Job Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer – UAV Systems to design and develop mechanical components, structures, and assemblies for drone platforms. The role requires expertise in CAD design, material selection, simulation, and manufacturable product development, with a strong focus on lightweight, reliable, and high-performance UAV systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, model, and draft 3D components and assemblies for UAV structures, payload mounts, and mechanical systems.
- Develop lightweight and manufacturable drone components using advanced materials such as carbon fiber and composite plastics.
- Create detailed 2D drawings, GD&T annotations, and assembly documentation for production.
- Collaborate with electronics, propulsion, and aerodynamics teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Optimize designs for performance, weight reduction, manufacturability, and ease of maintenance.
- Conduct structural, thermal, and vibration simulations to validate design reliability.
- Coordinate with vendors for fabrication, prototyping, and component sourcing.
- Maintain CAD revisions and support R&D and production teams with design updates and prototype iterations.
- Participate in field testing and implement mechanical improvements based on test feedback.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in CAD design for UAVs, robotics, or precision mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, or similar CAD software.
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerancing principles.
- Experience with FEA simulations (Structural, Modal, Thermal) is preferred.
- Knowledge of aerostructure design, propulsion integration, and payload balancing is an added advantage.
