The role is responsible for defining software architecture, enforcing code quality, and driving integration across Ground Control Station (GCS), onboard systems, and supporting tools. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, guide engineering execution, and ensure robust, scalable, and production-ready software systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and enforce software architecture across GCS applications, onboard modules, and companion tooling.
- Lead customization and development of InsideFPV's QGroundControl (QGC) platform, including MAVLink integrations, VIEWLINK gimbal controls, custom overlays, and mission modules.
- Own code review processes, quality standards, merge approvals, and technical sign-offs.
- Manage cross-platform build and release pipelines across Android, Linux, and Windows environments.
- Lead debugging, telemetry analysis, crash reporting, profiling, and root-cause analysis for field issues.
- Drive hardware-software integration activities and define interface contracts across system boundaries.
- Mentor developers, review implementations, and elevate engineering capabilities and best practices.
- Maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, interface specifications, coding standards, and integration checklists.
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with QGroundControl (QGC), MAVLink, PX4, and ArduPilot ecosystems.
- Proficiency in C++/Qt and practical experience with Android development using Kotlin or Java.
- Strong understanding of UAV flight stacks, mission protocols, telemetry systems, and parameter management.
- Experience developing, debugging, and deploying software across Linux and Windows platforms, preferably including Embedded Linux environments.
- Proven experience integrating complex hardware-software systems and resolving field deployment challenges.
- Excellent problem-solving, system design, and technical leadership capabilities.
Additional Requirements
- Experience with ROS/ROS2, GStreamer, RTSP, SITL/HITL simulations, or real-time systems is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with defence, aviation, or other regulated engineering environments is preferred.
- Strong documentation, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, mission-critical environments and deliver high-quality software under demanding timelines.
